A human girl kept by Rade Sark as a lover and a slave. Ranveig has blue eyes and black hair, and is quite beautiful. Despite his burning hatred for humans, Sark seems to genuinely care for her, and spends significant amounts of money buying her presents instead of outfitting his men and ships with better hardware. For instance, he bought her a leopard seal instead of buying new deck guns for the Jagost, and, fearing for her catching scurvy, bought her several crates of lemons instead of breastplates for his officers.
Drosaico Janovic despises Ranveig, both because Sark's gifts to her come at his expense, and because he is jealous of the attention she is paid. It is unclear how Ranveig herself feels about either Sark or Janovic, or whether she is even a willing recipient of Sark's affections.
Ranveig keeps a leopard seal as a pet, named Kuschel.
